What are the hot topics for HR professionals as we look forward to 2019? Join the SSCC HRG on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. as we examine the new Grand Bargain legislation and its impact on businesses, including the:
  • MA Paid Family and Medical Leave (MA Paid FML):  Provisions of the paid FML begin taking effect July 1, 2019.  We’ll review the requirements and discuss cost, the controversial retaliation provision, and integration of MA Paid FML with other leave laws and disability insurance coverage.
  • Minimum Wage Increases:  The Massachusetts minimum wage will increase from $11.00 effective January 1, 2019, to $15.00 per hour over the next five years.  We will discuss how the minimum wage increases are impacting businesses in general and ways in which organizations are addressing minimum wage increases, including how organizations are handling wage compression issues.
  • Overtime/Premium Pay for Retail Employees:  The new law phases out certain overtime/premium pay requirements for retail employees working Sundays and holidays.  We will discuss the requirements and actions organizations are considering to incentivize employees to work Sundays and holidays.
Attorneys Jenifer Pinkham of Phifer Pinkham LLC and Nan O'Neill of Murphy, Heese, Toomey & Lehane, LLP will be on hand to facilitate the conversation and answer your questions!
