    Event Description:

South Shore Conservatory’s SSC Community Voices and SSC Community Voices Too! choruses present their spring concert on Sunday, May 20, 2 pm Norwell High School, 18 South Street in Norwell.  Joining them in concert as guest artists is Percussion Commotion, a percussion ensemble playing composed and improvised music.

SSC Community Voices and SSC Community Voices Too! are non-auditioned choruses that provide joyful ensemble singing and performance opportunities to over 60 adults and young adults.  These choruses are funded by the Cordelia Family Foundation.

SSC Community Voices is directed by board certified music therapists Eve Montague and Amanda Goff, with accompaniment by student pianist Karen Ji.  The Hingham-based group “Too!” is directed by board certified music therapists Emily Browder Melville and Kari O’Briant, and accompanied by student pianist Jennifer Boyd.  Both ensembles begin their next session in September and welcome new singers and peer mentors.  Music and instruction is adapted to accommodate all levels of ability.

This combined spring concert features favorite songs from the 1960s, including California Dreamin’, Beyond The Sea, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I Want To Hold Your Hand, My Girl, and Blowin’ In The Wind.

SSC is grateful to Norwell Public Schools, Principal William Fish, Assistant Principal Matt Marani, and Mr. John O’Briant, K-12 Wellness Curriculum Coordinator and Director of Instrumental Music, for use of their performance space.

South Shore Conservatory thanks the Cordelia Family Foundation for their underwriting of SSC Community Voices choruses.  Their generous gift allows South Shore Conservatory to offer these inclusive choruses for a nominal amount per semester, removing the financial barrier of entry and making it accessible for all.

The spring concert is free and open to the public.  Donations are welcome and help to defray costs. Audience members are invited to join the chorus members for a complimentary reception following the concert.  For more information on SSC Community Voices or South Shore Conservatory Creative Arts Therapies programs, please contact Eve Montague, Director of Creative Arts Therapies at 781-934-2731 x20, email e.montague@sscmusic.org, or visit www.sscmusic.org.
