    Job Description
    Job Title: Director of Resource Development
    Position: Full Time
    Location: Office in Rockland, MA with required substantial travel within the South Shore region

    This is a new position to lead resource development for the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and its subsidiary South Shore Economic Development Corporation.  The position will help execute a regional   initiative for a sustainable and economically competitive South Shore.  

    The South Shore Chamber and the Development Corporation are seeking a leader who can create and lead a resource development program that is not restricted to members of the Chamber or even to just business organizations.  The position will require someone who is comfortable meeting with corporate leaders and motivated to building a new perspective within a regional organization with a long history of leadership.   It is expected that grants will be a future source of funding for some projects but a future position will be created for that effort.  For more information on the regional sustainability project and its current initiative on housing please see www.SouthShore2030.com

    Duties & Responsibilities
    • Create and manage a development program responsible for raising $250,00 -$400,000 a year
    • Develop a sustainable process for identifying and attracting funders/sponsors
    • Primary responsibility for leading $5,000+ giving
    • Communications and regular reporting to Directors of the Chamber, Trustees of the Development Corporation and other key leaders.
    • Involvement with appropriate staff on planning and executing program sponsorships, the Chamber’s Partnership program of 55 leading corporate funders
    • Close collaboration with the Economic Development Corporation on new initiatives for economic growth and community sustainability
    • While there may be some potential grants and foundation funding opportunities that is not a primary focus of the position
    Required Skills
    • Strong level of comfort and ease interacting with business and other organizational leaders
    • Ability to build relationships and nurture those relationships
    • Familiarity with the South Shore region and business community
    • Understanding of the South Shore 2030 plan and economic or community development
    • 5+ years in a business environment
    • Proven high standards for member/client service
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility with others
    • Strong verbal and writing skills
    • Grant writing experience is a lower priority
